okay I'm so let's go ahead and get started at so welcome to Alliance dr. Olga Mohan high school we are so excited to have you here with us today and I wish I could do this in person cuz usually done in person but I do want to say that we are excited to welcome your get some insight into what our campus is like for them as students and so unfortunately I don't have the ability to do that necessarily your students can't necessarily meet our students right I'm in that I make sure that I lead our school in the way that I would send my own kids to ours and I want the students at our school site to to feel as if you know it's it's an amazing school and there are two attendant and I really always want to ensure that the teachers that we have in the staff that we have are all very supportive of our students because that's ultimately what I would want for for my I'm a couple of things that are really important to know about interesting enters in 2 Grade 9 it is a very important year it is a year that probably will be very unlike middle school or Elementary School and your student will likely have to adjust there is usually a time. When students take a little time to just kind of adjust to the school and to the new people in the school and she just all the things that they're kind of experiencing in their first year okay getting and maintaining good grades and during this time we crater students to start considering participating in extracurricular activities to volunteer even if we do encourage our students to take some Community College courses and we show them how to do that I said that I can be prepared eventually to to apply to a four-year University by the time they get to their senior year okay it'll be another important are you there we do have a couple of teachers who who your students will become very familiar with and I'm very proud to say that a lot of our teachers have been with us since I have been the Principal of our site or even longer so a lot of our teachers are our experience they've been with us since 2013 or even before then and I have a lot of experience in supporting students and essentially to help your student get caught up if they have fallen behind and are not at grade level so many of your stance will happen opportunity to meet Miss Tovar and she's been with our School okay it's a stroke so I do want to talk a little bit also about our counseling department I'm it's important should know that as you come to as your student comes to our school they will be exposed to to apply to college if they don't take the a through G forces they will not be able to apply for college that is why all of our classes are a through G approved a couple of ways that we ensure students are really paying attention to their grades that they're really paying attention to their eligibility for college I'm we really work with our advisory teachers to ensure that students and teachers are connecting around College information and such and then as your students get a little bit older it'll have more contact with a counselors who will begin to help them up by for the capital school year we do offer tutoring by our teachers after school fiscal year is a little bit different we are still offering to touring this year were offering 24-hour tutoring services to our students so it's not just for a set time like we would do in a typical school year on-site but all students also have access to 24 hours tutoring so if they have a question late at night all they have to do is sign on to the tutoring center know we'll be a tutor they're essentially to help them with their homework or the question that they have or if they're studying for a test I mean the tutorial offer social emotional support to all of our students through our counseling department we currently have a social emotional counselor who focuses on supporting students who are homeless or Foster youth but we also she also support students who may be struggling emotionally or have on Mental Health concern and so would you have someone to support students with that type of then when we are unable to offer that support would you refer students on to local agencies who can better support them and we work closely with those specific organization I'm in a skeleton in 10 MOS Polo and there is an orientation that happens just for the students and they become failure with our teacher so we are planning to offer that other is also possibility that we will offer summer school as well for freshman students if you would like your sense to participate and that but that is information again that would be forthcoming likely in late May or June and then a school starts in August
